The Library of Alexandria

Aerial view of Alexandria from the east. P is the island of Pharos. C the Caesareum, the only ancient object with precisely know location. S is the position of the "Pompeus" column at the rubble site (the assumed remains of the glorious Serapeum).
Two maps of ancient Alexandria. In the detailed left one the position of the Pharos lighthouse (orange), the Caesareum (blue) and the Serapeum are given. The position of the Museum and the main Library is unkown, but assumed by most writers in the green area. The map to the right shows a overview of Alexandrias famous ancient sites and the assumed locations.
